WHAT IS THIS?

FCASD is a non-profit, non-sectarian, volunteer organization dedicated to helping South Dakotans make informed, timely decisions about available options for handling the remains of the deceased.

WHAT DO WE DO?
|
Our goal at FCASD is to help people plan ahead. It's as simple as that.
From deciding which funeral business to use to wise casket choices, from ways to inform survivors of who will take the cat to body donation, there are many decisions to be made and our goal is to help individuals make those choices by gathering information and resource tips in one location. |
HOW ODD IS THAT?
|
It turns out maybe not so odd at all.
Our Standard American Funeral today can have an extreme impact, both environmentally and economically. For some people, this isn't a problem and they are comforted by a traditional service. For a growing number of others, it can be a problem. For instance, with average costs ringing in at $9,000 nationally, the typical funeral can be a real hardship for individuals on limited or low income. Other people who can afford that simply don't wish to. They might want to see that money go to their grandchildren or to a favored charitable organization rather than ... well, burying it. Still others have spent years recycling and reducing their energy footprint and have little desire to add to the environmental impact of burying hardwoods, copper, formaldehyde, and concrete. Whatever your preferences for yourself or a loved one, FCASD can help you make informed choices and explore your options. Support this goal for yourself and others by joining us. |
